Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Mike Panaro served in the Army for over 21 years. Early in his career, he was an Armor and Cavalry officer, deploying twice to Iraq. He then became a Eurasian Foreign Area Officer. In his last military assignment, he served as a team chief for New START treaty inspections, escorting Russian inspectors during 32 inspections of US nuclear weapons facilities.
Mike graduated from West Point in 2000 with a degree in International Politics and earned his M.A. here at UW-Madison in 2015. He currently works in University Veteran Services and is motivated to ensure that veterans and other military-connected students have an amazing educational experience in Madison, just as he did.
