Chicago native and two-time Yooper transplant, Joseph served as a Marine Corps CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear) Defense Specialist from 2006 to 2010. In those four years, he deployed to Iraq, Spain, Greece, Turkey, Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, and once jumped off an aircraft carrier into the Gulf of Aqaba. After his enlistment, he attended undergraduate studies at North Central College in Naperville, IL (English) and graduate studies at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (Library and Information Science). Prior to joining the Extension Iron County team in 2023, he worked as a substitute teacher, bartender, Census field enumerator, project manager, software quality assurance manager, video game content copywriter, freelance photographer, and (his favorite job) Blockbuster Video customer service representative. He currently lives in the UP with his wife, Carly, and son, Wendell.
