I was in the US Air Force 1976 to 1980, stationed primarily at Aviano AB in Italy. My education at UW-Madison includes a BA degree (1983) and  MSSW (1985). I started working with veterans while at UW, mostly Vietnam-era veterans at the time. My interest and commitment to veterans continued following graduation and post graduate school. I later received a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Southern California and completed post graduate training at Menninger Foundation, Erickson Clinic. While in private practice I consulted with the VA. I also branched out assisting law enforcement and other first responder departments exposed to traumatic events. My professional career was as a psychotherapist and later 20+ years in senior administration until I retired in 2017. Now in retirement, I volunteer in assisting today’s veterans, many injured in the Global War on Terrorism.  I am also active in multiple veterans groups such as Air Force Association, American Legion and the Patriot Guard Riders.
