Gerald Herter grew up in the Chicago area and graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a BBA (1967) and an MBA (1969), followed by service in the United States Army as a field artillery officer in Germany and Vietnam. He worked for several years in Chicago as a Certified Public Accountant for Arthur Andersen & Co.
Gerald met and married Loretta in the Chicago area several years before they moved to Southern California in 1977. There, he joined HMWC CPAs & Business Advisors, where he served as Managing Partner for many years, as well as President of Integra International, a worldwide association of accounting firms.
Gerald and Loretta are long-time members of Tustin Presbyterian Church, where he serves as an elder. He also serves on the Boards of Monte Vista Grove Homes and New Theological Seminary of the West. Gerald has written about travel for various publications as well as in his books, Celtic Journeys, From Ledgers to Ledges, and Farewell, Ham Tan Arty.
